Boston Bruins Add Jarome Iginla After They Beat The Crap Out Of Him And Pittsburgh
Via ESPN: “The Boston Bruins signed free-agent forward Jarome Iginla, 36, to a one-year deal worth $6 million on Friday. The Bruins announced that Iginla’s base salary is $1.8 million, and another $4.2 million in incentives adds up to a $6 million salary-cap figure. A source had told ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun that the incentives include a games-played bonus of $3.7 million and a goal-scoring/team playoff performance bonus of $500,000.”
Had to throw a little extra dig in there. After all, it was Iginla that chose the Penguins over the Bruins at the trade deadline in chase of the Stanley Cup. We know how that went. The Bruins crapped all over the Penguins, allowing only two goals in those four games en route to a Stanley Cup appearance. Now Iginla will have a chance to chase the Cup with the real deal.
I like the deal. We need grinders and tough minded guys because that’s how we play. Plus, you know this guy is going to be motivated since he’s passed on the Bruins last year. Plus this guy can score goals and we need that after losing a couple of guys who could do that.
Welcome to Boston, Jarome. I’m not saying you made the wrong decision last season, I’m just saying you didn’t make the right one.
